Art abounds in NYC! The Whitney Museum launched a series of large-scale commissioned works at the site of the museum’s future building in the Meatpacking District. If you aren’t in New York, catch the action in this video. It illustrates the creation and installation of the Guyton\Walker project, the first of three commissioned works.

If you will be in New York this summer and are looking for a quick day trip, take an excursion to Kykuit in Westchester County. Kykuit, also known as the J.D. Rockefeller Estate, is a must see for any art and design enthusiast. The 40-room house harbors a notable selection of 20th century artworks by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Henry Moore, Alexander Calder, Louise Nevelson, and David Smith.

Here’s another new design shop in NYC! Strawser & Smith, a new furniture store in a loft-like space in Brooklyn, has size on its side! The shop is large enough to display huge furniture pieces by Cleveland Art, a company that salvages old factory and machine parts to make furniture.
